Other sources stock finished wheels, which makes it virtually impossible to stock a full size range. If they don't have what you need, they may charge more and delay your order for weeks. That's why Goodson makes every wheel to order. We always have the right wheel because we take a blank, size it, shape it, test it and ship it within 24 hours*. Only Goodson has the equipment in-house to size, shape, slot and semi-balance crankshaft grinding wheels.

Three Compositions to choose from

GCS- Standard Grade
Standard grade is economical for use on general automotive crankshafts. This blue-grey, semi-friable abrasive, is ideal for standard crank journals with Rockwell hardness of 35Rc or less. Works best domestic and import cast steel or nodular iron crankshafts with straight journals requiring a minimum of radius and/or thrust grinding.

GCH- Superior Grade
Superior grade has better form holding capabilities, cuts cooler and requires less dressing. This slate-grey abrasive removes more material, loads less, and holds shape longer. Ideal for use on crank journals with Rockwell hardness of 35Rc or less. Works best on domestic, import and high-performance crankshafts made of cast or forged steel.

GCD- Premium Grade
Premium grade is for harder materials. Also has better form holding capabilities, cuts cooler and requires less dressing. This wheel features a salt-and-pepper, friable abrasive for faster and cooler crank grinding. Ideal for use on crank journals with a Rockwell hardness of 35Rc or more. Works best on diesel, high-performance, industrial and billet steel -- or crankshafts with large radii journals.

OD Cutting Service
This machine sizes the outside diameter to your specifications. We can also down-size "used" larger wheels to fit smaller model grinders.

Speed Testing Service
We quality check ALL of our crankwheels. This special machine tests wheels at 1.5 times operating RPM to assure safety.

Arbor & Side Cutting Service
Our custom-made, extra heavy-duty sizing machine allows us to open up arbors and create tapers, recesses and hubs.

Slotting Services
Slotting facilitates the flow of coolant to the thrust and radii areas of the crankshaft. By keeping these critical areas cool, slotted crank wheels eliminate chatter and burning (a must when grinding high-performance materials). Don't waste time waiting on other suppliers who outsource their crank wheels for slotting. Only Goodson has the equipment in-house, so we can usually turnaround slotted wheels within 48 hours or less!
