Yes, I agree doing this every couple of weeks and keeping it fresh will be a challenge. However, being in this business does allow a whole bunch of topics, that should give me plenty of material to work from.

As far as the coolest new tool I saw at the PRI show................well it has to be that new Hyper Finish Diamond Valve Guide Sizing System. This newly released tool allows the engine builder, to be in full control for size, maintaining round/straight bores, as well as delivering the finish that engine builders want on any guide material. Yes that is my final answer on what was the neatest or coolest tool I saw at PRI.

What was everybodies else's opnion? Any other really cool tools that caught your attention?

I agree with the website design department...you should have a blog! But, let me tell you, writing on a regular basis for public consumption is not as easy as it looks.

Here's what I want to know...what was the new tool that seemed to really capture just about everybody's attention at the PRI Trade Show?

Best of luck on the new project, Dave.

We have three spring testers to choose from. One is a low cost tester you can put in your vise and use a caliper to check the height. Part # VST-600 with a range from 0 to 600lbs.
Second is an analog unit part # VST-70 with a range of 0 to 1000lbs.
Third is a digital unit part # VST-2000 with a range of 0 to 2,000lbs.

If you are doing a lot of springs I would recommend the VST-2000.

If you have further questions please feel free to contact one of our ASE Master Machinists.

The VJ is one of the single most important things you can due to to cyl. head. The VJ effects flow from 0 lift to .400 mainly depending on valve dia. it will also effect it at higher lift depending on angle, but you need to remember, at lower lifts the area around valve is smaller than anywhere upstream, so the seat prep. is critical and its only 1/2, the back of valve is the other 1/2. The less lift you have, the greater this becomes. we have found huge gains in this area, the way I look at this is, you need a VJ anyway so do it right and gain power everywhere. Or take a good ported head do a crappy VJ and take a large amount of power out of it. A good VJ with the correct angles and widths or radiuses on ex will work on any head stock or race it will typically put about 20/25hp in stk head with mild cam.
