Snyder Continues Title Defense in Cordova

Friday, May 17th, 2013

Reigning Pro Extreme World Champion Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team head to Cordova, Illinois this weekend to continue their title defense. Snyder who runnered-up at the first ADRL event in Rockingham earlier this year is looking to better that finish this weekend.

“We haven’t been running quite as well as we want yet this year, but hopefully some of the changes that we made over the last few weeks have fixed our issue. We have been racing here for years and I really like Cordova so it will be nice to get this Powersource Transportation Corvette back out on the track,” said Snyder.

Snyder and the Team are no strangers to winning at this track, in fact his first ever pro win came at the facility in 2000 when he was racing in the Pro Outlaw class.

“We have raced everything from Jrs, to IHRA, to the Top Alcohol Funny Car there. It is one of the few tracks that seems to keep changing with us. Hopefully, at the end of the day on Sunday we will be hoisting the trophy with our first win of the 2013 season.”

Qualifying for the event begins on Saturday morning and continues throughout the day, with eliminations on Sunday. For up to date information please log onto www.dragracecentral.com.

Snyder to Display at IMIS

Friday, December 7th, 2012

This weekend at the IMIS trade show in Indianapolis, Indiana, 2012 ADRL Pro Extreme World Champion Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team will have the honor of displaying their ’63 split window Corvette in the prestigious Hall of Champions. The show which takes place from Thursday through Saturday will begin Wednesday with a reception at Lucas Oil Stadium where this years champions will be recognized.

“It is an honor for us to have our car on display with the other champions from this year. It gives the attendees who may be familiar with different types of racing to get a look at more of a “rat fink” kind of car,” said Snyder.

The Powersource Transportation sponsored Team finished the season with 3 wins, which came back-to-back-to-back. It was the closest points battle in Pro Extreme history with Snyder being separated from teammate Jason Scruggs by just 6 points heading into the final race of the season.

“This is just really a cool deal they have here and it is nice to be recognized and included. To be able to come here and represent ADRL and give our sponsors some additional exposure is great. There are some amazing people and companies that have been with us and supported us over the years, many of whom are here this weekend, and we are happy to have the opportunity to represent them.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, Coan Engineering, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s, Safety-Kleen and The Winning Team for their continued support this year.

Snyder Wins the Pro Extreme Championship

Monday, October 29th, 2012

To say 2012 was a good season for the Snyder Motorsports Race Team would be an understatement. The Powersource Transportation sponsored Team lead by former World Champion, Larry Snyder, earned the ADRL Pro Extreme Championship by a little over a round, beating out teammate Jason Scruggs for the title. In the process, driver Mick Snyder, earned three wins and became a member of an elite group of competitors to run in the 3.50s.

“At the beginning of the year, we set out to win this thing and to actually come out on top of this insanely competitive field is kind of unreal. There was definitely some pressure on us coming into the last event to close it out, and it is a testament to this entire Team that we were able to do so,” said Snyder.

During the middle of the season Snyder won back-to-back-to-back races in Maple Grove, St. Louis and Virginia to take a commanding points lead on the field. After a few races, plagued with electrical gremlins, Snyder found himself sitting on top by just 6 points heading into the last race of the season. Sticking with the same mentality that had got them to this point, Snyder and his father along with co-crew chief Jeff Bohr, decided to test a new setup during the first few rounds of qualifying. The move paid off when they clinched the championship during the 2nd round of eliminations.

“There was a little delay before we had to start the car after we knew we had won the title. All these crew chiefs and drivers, people I have looked up to and watched since I was younger were coming up and shaking my hand as I am in the car and Dad’s hand as he is standing in front with the squirt bottle. It was a really cool moment I will never forget. I really need to thank my crew and all of the sponsors that help us on this car. And Jason and Mitchell for giving me a car to drive. None of this is possible without any of them. We will savor this over the winter and I am definitely looking forward to trying to defend the title next year.”

Snyder Continues Championship Hunt

Friday, September 28th, 2012

After seven months and eight races, including 3 wins, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team sit on top of the ADRL Pro Extreme points standings with just two races to go. Snyder will head to Norwalk, Ohio this weekend, the site of his first ADRL win two years ago, in hopes of lengthening that lead before the final race in Texas next month.

“It has been a good season for us, now we just need to finish it off. We know that we have a car that can be competitive with anyone out here, we have shown that over the season. Now we need a little luck to go with that and hopefully we will be in the winner’s circle at the end of this weekend. A win here would really help our chances at the overall championship,” said Snyder.

“We really aren’t thinking about that though, I mean sure it is in the back of our minds, but when you are racing you really just need to take it one round and one race at a time and the rest will fall into place. It is fun to be going down to the wire with your teammate. I know that both of us will give it everything we have.”

The Team will get 3 qualifying attempts on Friday and one more Saturday morning, before eliminations begin that afternoon and continue throughout the day. For up to date results throughout the weekend, please log on to www.dragracecentral.com.

Snyder Makes History Wins Back-to-Back-to-Back PX Races

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

Last weekend, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation made ADRL history when they earned their 3rd ADRL Pro Extreme title in a row, fighting off a tough group of competitors at Virginia Motorsports Park.  For Snyder, the 2010 Rookie of the Year and current points leader, it was the first time in his career that he has gone back-to-back-to-back in any category of racing.

“This car is running great.  I had to drive it in the final, but that was a rare opportunity to save the crew instead of them saving me.  When it moved to the center line and I had to jerk it back and then the shift light came on and I dragged it out a bit, and I finally shifted and saw the win light, it was exciting.  But, then when I saw it was a hole shot, well those are always fun for a driver,” said Snyder.

The Team qualified #2 for the event with a 3.67 at 207 mph on the hot sticky race track.  Snyder earned the lane choice in the 2nd round by running a 3.68 and then ran back-to-back 3.65 second passes to reach the final.  In the final, the second generation driver, had his opponent on the tree and never looked back earning the win light and his place in history by .007 at the other end (about 2 feet).

“We are so excited about this car right now.  To be leading the points at this stage of the game is good, but we are hoping to continue this in Michigan next month.  It was great to have all three of the kids here this weekend too to join in the experience.”

The next race for the Team will be in Martin, Michigan July 13th and 14th.

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s and The Winning Team  for their continued support this year.

Snyder Goes Back-to-Back

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

At the grand reopening of Gateway Motorsports Park this past weekend, the Snyder Motorsports Race Team picked up right where they left off a month ago earning the #1 qualifying spot for the second straight race with a track record, 3.60 second pass at over 210 MPH. He went on to win the race and lengthen his overall points lead, running between 3.63 and 3.65 during eliminations on Saturday.

“To get back to back wins in a category as tough as ADRL Pro Extreme is something that you shoot for, but you don’t really expect. The competition is so close, no one is running away with anything, and any mistake can really cost you. I have a great Team, including Skip and Barb from Powersource Transportation who made it this week, and the car is just running flawless right now. We are going to ride this out as long as it lasts,” said driver Mick Snyder.

After laying down career best numbers in the Friday night qualifying session, Snyder came back to go low for the round in the 4th qualifying session and first and second rounds of competition on Saturday. In the semi-finals Snyder posted a stellar 3.650 elapsed time for the win setting up a match up in the final round with teammate Jason Scruggs, a rematch of last year’s Virginia final round. Snyder ran a 3.630, the quickest pass of eliminations, and earned his second win of the season when Scruggs was unable to make the call.

“I was really looking forward to racing Jason in the final, we had the best two cars all weekend and it would have been a good one, but we will definitely take the win. Usually when we come to St. Louis it is so hot that we can’t run these kinds of numbers, so to be able to come here and run the same things we were running in Maple Grove makes me think we have something here. We are going to try and make it 3 in a row in Virginia later this month.”

Snyder Qualifies #1 and Earns the PX Win

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

For Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team last weekend at Maple Grove Raceway couldn’t have gone more perfect. The 30 year old driver, earned his first number one qualifying spot in ADRL, then navigated his way through a tough field of competitors to earn his first win of the 2012 season and take the early points lead.

Snyder, made 6 straight passes down the track in the low to mid 3.60s including a career best 3.64 at 207 MPH to qualify number one for the event. He went on to better that in the second round when the Powersource Transportation sponsored Corvette earned the win with a 3.63 at 208 MPH, the quickest pass in ADRL competition thus far this year.

“The car ran perfect all weekend. Dad and Jeff have it tuned like a bracket car and it just kept repeating. Seems like everything we did over the winter is starting to come together, so hopefully we can keep the momentum when we head to St. Louis,” said Snyder.

“With so many great people and companies behind this car, to get them into the Winner’s circle is really what we come out here to do every week. I wouldn’t be out here without their help.”

Snyder Ready for Maple Grove

Monday, May 7th, 2012

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team will head to Reading, PA and Maple Grove Raceway this weekend for the 3rd race of the ADRL season. The Team, sponsored by Powersource Transportation, currently sits 5th in the points standings and is coming off an impressive showing a few weeks ago in Bristol, Tennessee.

“The car ran really well in Bristol. We qualified the highest we ever have and had some really good numbers. After the rain came through the track changed from Friday and we just didn’t quite get the setup right in the third round,” said driver Mick Snyder.

Snyder, 2010 ADRL Rookie of the Year, qualified #3 with a 3.65 pass at 206 mph at the Spring Drags last month. He laid down a nice 3.69 pass first round and ran the quickest and fastest pass of the session, 3.66 at 205 mph, in the quarterfinals before shaking the tires in the semis.

“Last year we made it to the semi-finals here before the race got called due to curfew. We thought we had a pretty good shot at making it to the Winner’s Circle, so maybe we can make up for that this year and celebrate on Saturday night.”

Snyder, last years 3rd place finisher in the points standings, will begin qualifying on Friday with 3 runs a 4th run on Saturday morning. Eliminations will begin on Saturday afternoon and continue throughout the day. For up to date results throughout the weekend, please log on to www.dragracecentral.com.

Fifth Straight Semi-Final for Snyder

Monday, July 25th, 2011

For their 5th event of the year, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team headed to Martin, Michigan, and earned their 5th semi-final finish in as many races. The Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation remains 3rd in the ADRL Pro Extreme points standings, less than 3 rounds out of 2nd going into the remaining 4 races of the season.

“The car continues to run really well and we can’t really be upset with another semi-final. The crew is doing a great job and the Coan converter and car continue to respond to our changes. During the heat of the day, we ran quicker than anyone else out here, so we think we are getting a handle on her. Now we just have to apply everything we are learning and try to go rounds down the stretch of the season,” said Snyder.

The 30 year-old second generation driver, qualified #3 in the 16 car field with an impressive 3.69 at 208 mph pass in the heat of the day earning lane choice in first round of eliminations. During first round, Snyder had to pedal the car after loosing traction off the starting line to pick up the win and face teammate Jason Scruggs in the second round. He was able to pick up the win running 3.75 earning choice in the next round. During the semi’s, Snyder left just a bit too quick, turning on the red light by just .002 of a second to end his day.

“We are having so much fun out here at the ADRL races. Skip and Barb from Powersource have been coming to a lot of the races and being so close to home this week a lot of our friends and family got to come out and watch us. We are really looking forward to going to Virginia next and trying to get this car in the winner’s circle for all of the great people behind us.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s and The Winning Team for their continued support this year.

Three Straight Semi-finals for Snyder

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Three races into the ADRL 2011 season, 2010 Rookie of the Year Mick Snyder is sitting in third place in the points standings after the Reading event was called due to curfew before the semi-final round could be contested.

“In just our second year in this class, it is safe to say we are still learning a lot. Being able to go rounds over the past few races has really helped us gather some data and try some new things with the car. And we really think the Powersource Transportation Corvette has quite a bit left in her,” said Snyder.

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team qualified number #7 for the event with a 3.69 second pass at 207 mph. In the first round Snyder used his horsepower to drive around his opponent with a 3.74 second pass and earn lane choice in the second round. The 29 year-old driver, ran a career best 3.65 at 209 mph to earn the win light and his way into the semi-finals.

“We would have really liked to have finished this race, but unfortunately between mother nature and the curfew in Reading, it just wasn’t possible. I think that we are in really good shape heading into the next race and look forward to the challenge of making it to the Winner’s circle against some of the best racers in the country.”

The Snyder Motorsports Race Team would also like to thank their associate sponsors Lencodrive Racing Transmissions, R & R Racing Products, Flatout Gaskets, NGK, Lucas Oil, Snyder Auto, VP Racing Fuels, JE Pistons, PSI Springs, Long Printing, Goodson, Jeg’s, Safety-Kleen and The Winning Team for their continued support this year.
