back cut

Monday, November 30th, 2009

sorry to ask but what does the term back cut mean is it another angle after of before the 45 degree seat face
regards Roy [ uk]

i see the below posted a while back

Typically a backcut valve will hurt the wet flow of both race and street engines. The best thing to do is find a valve that has the proper seat width without a back cut.

Performance Valve Job

Joe- On a fully ported head what type of seat cut makes the most power- a cut using a multi angle cutter or several single angle cuts. Is the difference really that great? Building a streetstrip type engine and don’t need every last hp.
Thanks

Intake has 1.94" valve
Exhaust – 1.610 valve
Mild Port job
.510" cam lift.
Thanks.

Ford Super Cobra Jet Cylinder Heads on 460 Ford

Joe
Do you have any suggestions on a multi angle cutter for this particular head on both the intake and exhaust. There has been little port work done and is used on an economy modified 2WD truck puller engine. The engine is a 460 bored .080". Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
