3 Angle Valve Tooling

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Hi Jim. Read your reply to post on 10/03/07. Regards bridgeport type machine use (R8). If the valve seat has to be alligned as critical as you stated why do I need a pilot at all? I could make a rigid tool holder to fit R8 spindle and use your 3D tooling. I use rigid tooling and time consuming allignment to install various size valve seats. I’m looking to speed up the process. The problem is that the allignment is too time consuming. It would seem that ball head drive should be somewhat forgiving?

Thank You – Ben

VGS-20 Sunnen – I want to upgrade seat cutters

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I recently purchased a used Sunnen VGS 20. It has the early style seat cutters. I would like to upgrade to a better three angle type setup…the main reason for this is I have alot of sioux pilots with the .385 top and this machine only came with five sunnen sized pilots. I dont want to have to buy a bunch more pilots. Or is it a bad idea to use expandable pilots for this application? What do you suggest a 3dfastcut system? What all would I need to upgrade?

harley head holder

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I have been using your 3-d system on my bridgeport for about six years and I am still trying to get the concentricity perfect on all my seats. I would like to know if carbide pilots would make it worth the cost of replacing all of mine? Also would the harley head plate and tilt fixture you sell lock up solid enough with the single handle lock? With the plate I use now I have to double clamp it and use a machinist jack to secure it enough to get a true seat. Would a airfloat table work on the bridgeport and are they available. Who can I contact for parts for a Van Norman 944 boring bar? These are parts for the bar itself and not covered by the accessories that Goodson carries.
Thanks

What is the best seat machine for motorcycle race heads

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I’m in the market for a new seat and guide machine. My old neway and Serdi 2000 just isn’t cutting it. I need to keep concentricity to .001 and replace seats and guides. I do mostly motocross dirt bikes and some road race engines with titamium valves and small guides. I would like to stay around 26K. I Didn’t go to the PRI show and I’m not sure what the current options are on these machines.
