I purchased a old 402 bbc and found that one of the cylinder heads has 3 worn intake valve guides. I was quoted a price of just less than $300 for repair at United Auto Supply in LaCrosse WI. I think this sucks… is this something that I could repair on my own with the correct tooling to save me some $$$?
Please take your heads into united a/s @ have them give you a more accurate quote/as you know when they give a quote over the phone it is a guess . Also be sure to have the heads pressure checked , & surfaced,Please see Graham there,he is there cyl head specilist.
