INSTALLING THE RELUCTOR WHEEL

The reluctor wheel features a series of teeth that provide crankshaft position signals via a sensor to the ECM. The wheel press fits to the rear of the crank, immediately forward of the No. 5 main bearing. The wheel features about a 0.007” interference fit. While an OE LS crank is already fitted with this timing wheel, an aftermarket crank may or may not be provided with an installed wheel. If you need to install the wheel yourself, be advised that the clock position is critical for proper timing reference.>>read complete story>>

Buyer Beware!

By the Goodson Techxperts™

We get a lot of calls from guys who've gotten a "great deal" on ebay on a seat and guide machine, valve refacer, you name it. Their only problem is they need a replacement part for the machine to make it useable.

Well, ya know what? A lot of the machines you'll see out on ebay are there for a reason. In a lot of cases it's because the manufacturer has gone out of business and replacement parts are no longer available.

Don't get us wrong. There are some great deals out there but you need to be sure you have ALL of the information before you agree to buy the machine you're looking at. If you're considering buying a used machine from ebay or any other online source, be sure to ask questions and don't hesitate to give the Goodson Techxperts™ a call to find out if replacement parts are available.

Pushrod Concentricity CheckerDetermine quickly if pushrods need to be replaced

Erik Shepard,
Goodson Techxpert™

Sometimes it's hard to visually inspect a pushrod to determine if it's bent because it's not that far off. This tool eliminates any doubt.

All you do is place the pushrod into the bracket on the tester stand. Attach your dial indicator to the stand and adjust it so that it just contacts the pushrod. Now rotate the pushrod and observe the run-out on the dial indicator. If there's any run-out at all, you'll know it.

For less than $30, this stainless steel tool is a great addition to the shop and is featured in our new products in the 2009 catalog. Available January 2009, pre-order yours today.
